Before, I used to work for a major trading company as a single player who keeps track of figures all the time. Rather than showing leadership with respect to team play and the organization were in, I wanted to sell more and become at a higher position than anyone. After working there, I joined UNIQLO, which showed a tremendous momentum in the apparel industry at that time. My way of thinking about almost anything has changed when I transferred and met Tadashi Yanai, the owner of Fast Retailing, the company that owns UNIQLO. To be able to contribute as a part of the company, I have realized once again that it is important to value my workplace and our clients’ perspective. Also, I have learned to look at the entire company as a leader, not as a single player.

Created in 1932 by Ole Kirk Christiansen, Lego company has never ceased its technological innovation as a company since its founding, investing its two years’ worth of profits in 1946 to become the first toy manufacturer in Denmark. Then in 1958 from among a large number of prototypes we finally came up with the system called "stud and tube" which allowed blocks to be snapped together. This led to the birth of the Lego block which would come to symbolize the Lego company.

Since my father started this business in 1961, our firm has been conducting business to contribute to the development of local companies for nearly 60 years. In recent years, I feel that we have been receiving more queries about business succession and inheritance due to the aging of the management population. Because there is a fear that the technology and knowledge possessed by small and medium-sized enterprises may become lost at this current pace, various measures are being taken mainly by the state, such as by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and the Small and Medium Business Administration Agency. Among them, the most recent change was the revision of the business succession tax system. If a business owner dies and the successor inherits the shares of the unlisted company that he / she managed, a large amount of inheritance tax will be taxed, and it is expected that there will be many cases where management simply cannot function because of this. In order to solve this problem, a system called "business succession tax system" was established.

Our company has continued growing together with women. It did not have a macho environment since its establishment, and so the structure wherein femininity was easily accepted has deeply rooted in our company. That is why things just flowed naturally when Esawa was appointed as a director. Rather than becoming a major change, it further encouraged women to actively take part in the company. However, depending on the department, there are still areas in the company that are dominated by men such as merchandising. Since that department tends to have a male-oriented perspective, we would expect that such an environment will be mitigated and that more perspective from women will be taken in the future through appointing women leaders like Esawa in the management.

In the recent years, AI (artificial intelligence) and other cutting-edge technologies have been introduced in the financial world, limiting the things that can only be done by humans. Even jobs that require experience and know-how that our pioneers have acquired for about 10 years, can now be achieved by young people nowadays in tremendous speed. In order for me, who has become part of the so-called veteran generation of the finance world, to survive, I would like to provide an environment for the young to be able to accelerate further rather than slowing them down, and for me to be to continue mastering my craft with a humble attitude. In order to move forward, I must remain humble. Otherwise, they may no longer need me tomorrow. I put that sense of danger in consideration as I do my job. And in order for one to remain in demand in the society, it is important to continue trying new things. It is because a person can grow regardless of his age.

Our number one course of action in "Euglism" is to raise diversity and to develop a climate that accepts diverse values. Beauty business is the essence of our company, and we believe that it is our mission to pursue beauty. For this reason, we constantly take into consideration the needs of the times, subjectively and objectively. And we would like to embrace diversity by accelerating it further in the near future. Various people work for us regardless of gender, age, nationality, and culture. I firmly believe that such diversity creates unique, creative ideas that will push innovation. In order to accelerate such diversity, a flexible working style has to be promoted. It is also the company's duty to provide a lot of options to employees, such as implementing a flexible clock-in time and promoting work from home. If the company wants employee output, it must first settle the input. That is why we think that it's best to create a working style that suits the style of each of our employees.

I spent most of my childhood in Senegal, Africa because of my father's work. Then, from 10 to 18 years old, we have transferred and stayed in the US. Throughout my life abroad, I have felt that Japanese culture was not properly recognized. I noticed that gap particularly in food, where I was laughed at for eating raw fish. As a child, I had a lot of unpleasant experiences. My father's work was related to fishing, so I felt that I was made fun of because of that and because of our culture. Because of these experiences, I had a strong desire to introduce sushi and other Japanese food to the world and to let the world know the wonderful side of Japan when I started working. On the other hand, I am also aware that there are other wonderful cultures abroad, so I thought that I wanted to become a bridge between two different cultures.

Employees working at our company not only have a unique individual personality, but also are connected with a strong partnership. That is the foundation of our consulting farm, creating unique ideas that cannot be imitated by other companies, and enabling us to provide full corporate backup. As such, in order to lead a collective of employees who possess both partnership and ownership in one direction, working top-down or by giving orders are never effective. So for me, as the leader of the organization, the most important thing is the leader image of a servant leadership. In other words, it is important to have the capacity to genuinely accept, while listening to the opinions of various people. This is my management style.

If I were to be asked if women are enjoying an environment where they can work freely when I started working in 1993, I would say no. That time, the Equal Employment Opportunity Law was already in full force from 1986. However, we are now in a society where it is normal for women to be able to work in her own ways. A lot of women right now are able to step up in their careers and join companies. This is a very pleasing and a very promising change for the country. Because of that, society is also significantly stepping up as a whole. The ratio of women is also increasing among our clientele, as well as the crews working in our stores. Even owners of our franchise stores do not only consist of men as more and more women are starting to own franchise stores from us.

I had fun, I have gained knowledge, and it also widened my field of vision. Had I remained in Japan, the values I would think are right would only the ones I have learned from here. At that time, the cost of an airplane is the same as the interest rate of banks in Japan. But the world is different. I have thought that I could make a business out of this. Coming to Japan from overseas costs 300,000 yen and going to abroad from Japan costs 600,000 yen. Anyone will find this difference strange. And so, I asked myself if there's something I could do to help the young Japanese people travel abroad easily.

Since I was a child I wanted to work in a profession where I could "engage with people", and I vaguely thought that that would mean I would become a doctor. My father's business went bankrupt and he had billions of yens of debt, when I became a sophomore at the dental school. Our lives turned upside down and our family went separate paths. I hopped from address to address myself, and thought on many occasions that my life was over. I can never forget when I only had light coming from a single light bulb, in the room of a dirty building. I really was at the bottom pit of life.

This is our main philosophy. Therefore, to have patients understand that they need to come here. This is all that it comes down to. Made in Japan - a brand which the older generation cultivated. I would like to carry the torch in our generation and to deliver a new Made in Japan in the health division. With that vision in mind, I am developing businesses such as organizing hospitals, training therapists, and counseling. First of all, Japanese people are overstressed. There are many people who seem to overreact to things that they do not have to be sensitive about. Such a trend is seen also in terms of health, and as a matter of fact stiff shoulders are unique to the Japanese, and are not seen in other countries. This may have to do with the fact that there is a tendency to think of pain as a negative thing.

The first thing I thought about when opening a child clinic was to make this a place that children wouldn't dislike. As part of that, I do not conduct inspections or treatments that unnecessarily burden children, and I constantly seek out treatments that keep the burden to a minimum, as much as possible. The stress that is placed on a baby and child must kept to a minimum."Don't do anything that they will dislike". That idea eventually developed into "I want this to be a place where children want to come". Even at other clinics, there are decorations that children will like as well as toys, but those are simply bonus features at the end of the day. Meanwhile, my clinic regards it as just as important as the actual medical treatment. Make an "aquarium" (tropical fish tank) in the waiting room, having arcade game machines (which I picked up and fixed myself), and placing "gacha" (a child can pull once after the treatment. All of these are here to make this a place where children want to come.

However, the number of cases we have solved while utilizing our special network, are leading to great confidence from and trusting relationships with clients. In recent years, many companies have entered the M & A matching industry. One way of looking at it is that there is a demand for this, but another way to see this is that most of the companies have no experience or know-how at all. Separate from these companies, we offer not only matching work but also advisory services, with our overwhelming solving power and reliability, gained from our vast experience. We are striving to improve our ability to solve our clients' issues, in order to continue to be "a place of solace where managers can come and consult with us about even the most difficult projects". It will become important to further disseminate such recognition. It can be said that our hospital's strengths are that diabetes specialists - who are rare in this area - are in charge of medical treatment. We are said to be in an area of human resources difficulties, but we have many enthusiastic medical staff with diabetes care instructor qualifications, and it is also possible for patients to receive diabetes medical instruction (nutritional guidance, exercise therapy instruction, foot care, etc.), resulting in happy patients.

I was aware of the importance of preventive dentistry from the time I was a university student, but at the same time I became painfully aware that there are many mistakes in dental education. For example, education that teaches "it is common to perform bridging by scraping two adjacent teeth if one tooth is lost" is also a step toward destructive treatment which will eventually result in losing all teeth. I felt a strong indignation there and immediately joined an American academy to learn the newest information of dentistry. There I met an excellent teacher and relearned the significance of implants again. After that I devoted 24 hours, 365 days a year to the studying of implants, and have continued to study hard. As an implant specialist who boasts the highest precision in Japan, we have not stopped participating in academic societies and seminars, and continue to collect daily information even to this day. However, even after more than 25 years have passed, the Japanese implant industry is still lagging behind. This is a very sad reality. For example, in Korea, over 90% of dental clinics perform implants, but in Japan the number is not even close. Even dentists who put themselves in the forefront do not participate in academic societies, nor do they engage in clinical practices. The fact that the importance of implants is not widespread is a major problem for Japan, especially when considering that we are entering a 100-year life expectancy era.

"Healthy lifespan" is the period during which a person can act healthily and vigorously with both mind and body. The boundary between health and unhealthy is blurry. If you can focus on that and extend the blurry part, it will lead to an increase in healthy life. We are a company that provides tools and mechanisms for that. In order to prolong the healthy life span, we think that there are approaches from various angles such as im-provement of eating habits and lifestyle, but we have focused on “hydrogen", which can activate functions controlled by the brain and also help refresh it. We aim to extend healthy life by efficiently incorporating it into the body. When proving how hydrogen is good for the body, I have always disliked "using our company's data". When I said that I wanted to learn the violin, she brought me to an instrument shop on the same day. However, once I have decided to do something, I had to promise to continue doing it for three years. Because of this, the habit of preparing and taking responsibility on my own decisions has been deeply ingrained in my being. It was summer of my second year in high school when I suddenly thought of going to Europe alone. My mom bought me an open ticket, stayed there for three months, and made a lot of friends. I wanted to reunite with them someday, and I thought that the best profession that will enable me to do it was to become a pilot. When I told my mother about it, she assured me saying, "It would be tough, but I know you are serious about it". That weekend, I went to an aviation school in Miyazaki and aimed for admission.

As everyone knows, the products they first dealt in were books. However, an online book store was not Bezos' final goal. The concept he had since before creating it was to create an "everything store" that sells all kinds of products on a website. The reason he decided to start out with books as the initial products was that after comparing countless candidate products, the ISBN codes being managed by publishers around the world made the mail order sales program easy to create, and there was a lack of variation in quality and formats, making it a perfect type of product to start an initial foray into net shopping.

As suggested by the name of this company, it is a consulting business for companies focusing on motivation. When it was established in 2000 there were only 7 employees including myself. At the time it was a small company of 5 men and 2 women. The business subsequently continued to grow favorably, and we immediately started mid-career hires. From that time there were many female applicants, it happening to be the time when women started thinking of forming careers. And currently, 18 years after our founding, we have reached about 1,400 employees, about 650 of whom are women. In my opinion, I feel there are many women who attempt to go to extremes in their own fields of specialization. It also seems that many women are very serious in how they engage in social rules and conventions. On the other hand, men tend to intend more leadership, with more of them working toward improving their careers. For this reason, under the present conditions management and administrative positions tend to be filled more by men.

Therefore, we always do presentations twice. First, we focus on how the client would want to use their space. We read our clients' wants by asking them questions. We do not just show our clients the design that they really want through a simple drawing, but we also go to great lengths in creating a complete image including the finest details through a specific and realistic video using CG and animation. This is the first presentation. By doing so, it will be easier for the client to imagine the completed design and its use, and for them to say that they want to have it done. I started by listing up all of the services that I can offer at the present time as well as services that do not need much cost and materialized them one by one.

Hiroshima Allergy & Respiratory Clinic is a clinic which was opened in Hiroshima City and Higashi-ku in 2003, and specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of allergic diseases such as asthma. We conduct clinical practice for sleep apnea syndrome which can cause COPD, allergic rhinitis, hay fever and asthma, and smoking cessation consultation. I started an asthma clinic, a rare clinic specialty, because when I was working as a hospital as a physician, I felt a sense of crisis in the poor continuation rate and low medicine adherence rate of outpatient asthma patients. The treatment of asthma has changed dramatically since around 1990, and the method of inhaling steroids that suppress inflammation of the respiratory tract has become mainstream, replacing the method of using medicines that broaden the bronchial tube.

Oculo is a Latin word for eyes, and facial refers to the face. In abroad, Oculofacial is recognized as a specialized field of ophthalmology and plastic surgery; however, there are only few doctors in Japan who specialize in this field. As one of these few doctors, I perform examination and treatment to patients with protruded eyes and obstructed lacrimal duct due to Graves' Disease, eyelid ptosis and entropion, eyelid malignant tumor, orbital tumor, orbital fat herniation and other similar disorders. While general cosmetic medicine is targeted on what we call "normal people", we work on guiding patients, whose looks have changed due to sickness, to become better both in aesthetics and function.

During the bubble era from the late 1980s to the early 1990s, I was responsible for major economic cases, and won most of them. As a result, I accumulated considerable wealth as a lawyer, but at a certain point I had a sudden jolt in my heart. Business related projects are very interesting, but I began to think that I must not only stick to this type of work but also do things which benefit the people of the world. When I began to think how I could achieve that, I realized that this meant to help leave an earth that is beautiful and easy to live in for future generations. Furthermore, after thinking about what is the most serious and important problem affecting our society's environmental problems, I came to the conclusion that it is the nuclear problem. About 25 years ago from now, I approached people undertaking movements to remove nuclear plants, and joined their group.

The demand for real estate in Tokyo is increasing year by year; however, its rental market value is cheaper compared to huge cities like New York, London, and Hong Kong, so it has gained a lot of attention from overseas investors. Due to inbound demand and increase in population, an advancement in construction boom occurred, and demand for hotels and offices went to an enormous breakthrough.
Among these, we have turned our eyes to our overseas clients in Europe, US, and Southeast Asia. Because of that, we have kept a 100% occupancy rate in sales and brokerage of buildings and hotels, to which we are currently focusing our efforts on.

Sasaki clinic is a clinic specializing in nephorology and dialysis. It is said that there are more than 13 million patients with chronic renal failure and about 300,000 who need dialysis in Japan, and these numbers are increasing due to the aging population. However, the reality is that there is a dire shortage of nephrologists. When I was working as a nephrologist at a hospital, there were many cases of people who didn't require dialysis but were receiving dialysis treatment, and those who absolutely required one but were not receiving treatment. I strongly felt the necessity of a community-based clinic where people could receive professional medical treatment of kidney diseases, and it became a reason for me to inherit my father's - who was also a nephrologist clinic.

Our company, Souken Holdings, is proud to have provided an aggressive and innovative solution to go through the core of the problem in the field of exterior wall painting and exterior renovation through Protimes Souken, and real estate properties through Ultimate Souken. As a result, we have improved our performance at an exceptional speed in the Japanese renovation industry, ranked 5th in Japan as an exterior renovation company and was listed far and away the first place in terms of growth rate. Among the affiliated FC organizations, we are the one who held the first place for eight consecutive years. (Reform Shimbun) The first thing I worked on as a manager was to provide solutions to problems concerning the industries of exterior wall painting and exterior renovation. In exterior reform, it is difficult to distinguish qualities such as strength from ordinary ones if the outside is painted beautifully. That is why, shoddy workmanship occurs occur commonly in this industry, and it can be said that there was no one who could do construction work to how it is expected to. As theorized by the Nobel prize-winning economist George Arthur Akerlof et al., the industry is in a state wherein a business with poor service dominates the market due to information asymmetry, leaving the consumers suffering from its disadvantages.

Japan is a developed country in terms of cosmetic medicine; however, other countries have remarkably improved in the recent year, making them almost at par with our technological strength. I think one of the reasons for this is the difference in the legal system of each country. In Japan, a pharmaceutical approval is necessary when using new medical equipment and medicines. The same goes with the US, South Korea, and other countries, but Japan has stricter criteria when evaluating, so it usually takes a lot of time to apply and to get approved. As a result, we have to wait a little longer before a new medical equipment or medicine gets into the market, which is one of the factors that causes delay in our medical progress at the moment.

In Japan, it is still common to shoot patients' x-rays and immediately grind away if there is a decayed tooth, but in the west it is different. In an emergency situation, such emergency measures are sometimes carried out, but it is otherwise common to undertake fundamental treatment. First, the entire oral cavity is thoroughly inspected, a treatment plan based on scientific evidence is set up, and a plan is decided on while discussing with the patient before treatment finally begins. Compared with Europe and the United States, I feel that Japan's dental medical care is 30 years behind at the point of university education. Although there is no problem with basic and universal knowledge because the number and shape of teeth, anatomy, histology etc. do not change, there is no high-quality literature or research article being produced in Japanese despite clinical knowledge, dental technologies, materials, and facilities being developed day by day through deepening research.

I have a grandfather, who owned a well-established company that was created out of a successful business model for a railroad advertising company. On the other hand, my father worked there as the second-generation managing director, which is like being the Vice President of Junior Chamber International Japan. My father would always say that our family business will not last for three generations. Indeed, when I entered in the first year of university, our clients' listed companies went into bankruptcy, and our family businesses followed as a chain reaction. They then filed for corporate rehabilitation.

The still clearly remember the words "Cherish what you feel at the moment" from my professor when I entered the university. As I start to learn about dental care, I was told to never forget the image and sense of providing dental treatment to the general population. But once you get accustomed to that environment when working as a dentist, it would be inevitable to prioritize your own view and convenience and forget the general notion about the "fear of receiving dental care". I didn't want to end up like that, so I always keep those words in mind. As I go about my day to day practice, I have discovered a treatment method named "Doc's Best Cement".

Preventive medicine is classified into three levels depending on the period and the person in need of medical intervention. First is the primary level, which involves health promotion measures to prevent the occurrence of disease, next is the secondary level, which involves early treatment to prevent the severity of disease, and lastly, the tertiary level, which involves treatment of subsequent complications and to prevent the recurrence of the disease among the seriously ill. Before I started my private practice, I worked at a general hospital in Saitama Prefecture. Of course, since people come to the hospital already sick, all of the cases I was involved in was on the tertiary level. A lot of critically ill patients wanted to go home but they couldn't because they had to be connected to tubes and machines for treatment. As I was working with these people, I had a vision, albeit vague, about implementing a home health care program if I start my own clinic. After 13 years of working as a surgeon, I decided to start a private medical practice. Around that time, I was the primary physician of a patient with terminal esophageal cancer, who happened to live in the same city as mine. That patient was discharged on the same day of my resignation and was about to receive home treatment on the same day that I'll be practicing privately.

From the start of my medical career, I worked as a doctor at a university hospital for 20 years; however, I merely focused on solving the disease by exploring the scientific reasons such as genes and substances that lead to its etiology. In spite of that, I still encounter many cases of repeated hospitalization due to the same sickness, and I have been thinking about why it happens. Even with the same diagnosis, the progress varies from patient to patient. It happens because we are humans. Each of us is born and raised in a different environment, with a different upbringing and culture, so each one has a unique way of thinking and feeling. From that point, I began to realize that each patient has a different way of expressing their sickness. Of course, it is important to diagnose the disease itself. As a doctor, I have also devoted myself to studies and have written several theses. However, being involved in clinical practice for over 25 years, I learned that medical knowledge and scientific basis are not enough to clarify the etiology of a disease.

It has been 10 years since we opened our doors in Hiroo, Tokyo. May it be locals or foreigners, differences in eating habits, varying according to country or region, are often exhibited in the symptoms. However, there are things that one should carefully examine more than the difference in the country. That is the lifestyle and habits of each person. A dentist specializes in a part called oromandibular region, which is located from below the eyes to the neck. However, this is not a separate organ as it is connected and largely related to other regions. That is why we have to see the bigger picture. For example, a patient is complaining about pain in their molars. Should I try drilling it? That is something I would never do. I would listen to the patient’s story and observe their whole body. If it turns out that the patient had been travelling on an airplane for a long period or that their work involves facing computers, then I would suspect that the pain is caused by their posture. Maintaining the same posture over long periods will cause the jaw joint to slip and cause poor blood flow, which will result in toothache.

Although I think that our results-based pay per action (PPA) business model—in which revenues are generated when users purchase our clients’ products via our Internet-based advertisements—is no different from that of other firms, I think that our strength lies in the sense of size of our company. While major advertising agencies carry out comprehensive marketing including PR, advertising, websites, and social media account operation in order to achieve client objectives, there are actually only a small number of advertising agencies that employ elite, small-sized teams to offer the same kinds of services for small to medium-sized companies. We feel that there are business opportunities to be found there. It is important to make comprehensive marketing proposals, including search engine optimization (SEO) solutions, and to keep costs per user acquisition (CPA) within the client’s budget. Being able to do this is one of our company’s strengths, and also something that we keep challenging ourselves to achieve. In recent years, an increasing number of companies are realizing the value of web advertising and investing in this area. The volume of web advertisements being submitted is consequently increasing. However, since the number of users viewing the advertisements has not changed much, bidding prices are rising. As a result of this, the cost-performance ratio for these advertisements becomes unfeasible, and agencies begin to withdraw.

With the beautiful beach resort of Cebu, and its massive capital city of Manila buzzing with energy and excitement, the Philippines is known as an archipelago of highly appealing resort islands. Although its official language is Filipino (Tagalog), the country has adopted English as its common language, and it has a particularly high number of English speakers amongst Asian countries. It also has a deep relationship with Japan historically, and Manila can be reached from Tokyo by a journey of around four hours, with only a one-hour time difference. GG Co., Ltd. has formed partnerships with language schools in the Philippines primarily and various other locations around the world, and provides overseas study support to individuals, companies, schools and other educational institutions. We also directly operate two language schools on the island of Cebu, offering unique services and developing original study programs and educational materials. One attraction of overseas study in the Philippines is the low total cost. Another major distinguishing feature is an environment in which students can focus thoroughly, and intensively, on their English language studies. The majority of teaching is one-to-one or in very small-sized classes. Programs are conducted intensively, with around eight hours of classes per day, meaning that students can hope to reliably improve their language ability even over a short period of overseas study. At the very least, students should be able to overcome their feelings of ineptitude and aversions to actually speaking English. For business customers, we offer programs that are specialized towards business situations, based on keywords such as presentations and negotiations.

We would like to create the optimum environment for patients and their families by connecting a variety of industries, including hospitals, pharmacies, nursing homes, governments and businesses, similar to the neurons that connect the body’s organs to transmit information. Our corporate name reflects that idea. At the age of one, my daughter became severely disabled after she had influenza-associated encephalopathy, resulting in encephalitis. The incident catalyzed the formation of our business. We had no idea which hospital could provide appropriate rehabilitation for her, how to apply for a disability certificate, or how to apply for administrative support. We were completely at a loss. I want my daughter to feel that she has lived a good life after I die. However, I felt that Japan lacks a system for supporting healthcare and nursing care. My daughter is not the only one. Anyone can become physically disabled in an unexpected accident. A person might develop dementia when they are older.

Watanabe Foodmach was originally an iron and metalworking workshop, that manufactured milling machines and other machine tools. One day, our founder—my grandfather—was asked to repair a meat slicer (made in the Netherlands) being used at a butcher’s shop run by an acquaintance. This prompted him to foresee the coming of “an age where people would consume large volumes of meat,” and identify the need for mechanization. After several prototypes, our first machine was completed in 1947. From around that time, our company took its first steps as a manufacturer of food processing machines. At a comparatively early stage in the development of our business we began to set our sights on overseas markets, proactively visiting and observing meat processing markets around the world from the 1960s onwards, and bringing home insights and technologies obtained there to Japan to utilize in the company’s own product development efforts. Today, we have an overseas subsidiary in China, and have formed dealership agreements with vendors in 14 countries and regions, including Southeast Asia, North and South America, Australia and Spain, and are working to spread our food processing machines around the world. After graduating from an American university, I joined the company in 2000.

Dentistry is classified into many specialties, including root canal treatment, orthodontic treatment, oral surgery and dental restoration/prosthetic treatment. It is becoming increasingly difficult to master all specialties in the medical world, which is subject to constant advancement. Japan is a kind of exception in developed countries, because a single dentist handles general dental treatment. The success rate will be much higher, and the recurrence rate will be very low if specialists in different areas cooperate on the treatment of different issues. In this way, Japan’s dentistry has fallen significantly behind that of other countries. Even after I opened my own clinic in 1992, I continued to learn state-of-the-art dental treatment from Europe and the U.S. I happened to come across Team Atlanta, an American dental specialist group for integrated dental treatment, while participating in academic meetings worldwide and continuing research at the university. Finding such team-based medical care to be the ideal dental practice, I was determined to introduce it to Japan. If a clinic tries to provide team medical care, someone will have to be the leader and the relationship among team members will not be equal. I wanted to set up a dental office with several independent clinics that are run by specialists independently, so they could take responsibility for their area of specialty to realize true team dental care. However, the local public health center did not provide approval, because there was no precedent in Japan. I thought it was wrong that they provided no clear reason why they did not approve our proposed style. I went to the health center many times so they could understand the need for team dental care.

Disc herniation is a condition in which the tissue (nucleus pulposuses) inside the cartilage that connects spinal bones (intervertebral discs) protrude and press on the surrounding nerves. It is believed that approximately 1% of the Japanese population has this condition, which is a typical cause of lower back pain. Anyone can get this condition and it affects people of a wide range of ages. Even a significant case is treated using conservative therapy and follow-up, because it resolves spontaneously in most cases. In a critical case, surgical intervention is required. Unfortunately, intervertebral discs lack regenerative ability, thus, the surgical incision will not close naturally, and as a result, the nucleus pulposus will project from a surgical wound in some cases. The recurrence rate of herniation is 5 to 10%.

Although Japan’s self-sufficiency rate for energy is very low, and the country relies mainly on imports from overseas, Niigata Prefecture has long been developing crude oil and natural gas resources. In the Nihon Shoki (also called The Chronicles of Japan), a Japanese historical text from the Nara Period, there is even an entry describing the discovery of “burning water” in Tainai city, Niigata. As of 2018, Niigata currently accounts 80.7% of Japan’s natural gas production volume, making it the leading production area in the country. Natural gas is produced in 13 locations within the prefecture, primarily in the Minami Nagaoka gas fields, and is then delivered and supplied to city gas providers in Koshinetsu, Northern Kanto and other regions via pipelines.

In our 10 years in the business, we have provided legal counseling services to more than 340 firms. For a law firm based in a province, this is an exceptional number. Although it is common for many local offices to take on work in diverse legal fields, these offices tend to become "jack of all trades", which is one of the reasons why they could not improve their expertise in corporate legal services. Because of that, one could say that if a firm is providing legal counsel to about 10 companies, they already have a lot in their hands. However, the needs of a company definitely exist regardless of region. Since the establishment of the law firm, I have an unwavering belief about the importance of giving a helping hand. For this reason, we have been active in developing our clients to let them focus on corporate support. With such a strong foundation, our firm became more attractive to clients, and we were able to secure them an environment where they can build their track records. It also produced a great synergistic effect when it comes to the training of our lawyers.

In everyday life, it may not be always easy to achieve something, but through sports, there will always be steps to enable one to do something in which they are not good at. From childhood until university days, I grew up doing one sport, and rather than learning through technology, I have acquired most of my learnings by being taught what is important as a person. I would like to bring back to the sports scene the experiences and learnings that can only be learned through playing sports. To make it happen, we hold classes by forming groups of children in different ages regardless of their class. As a result, the bigger children will naturally provide support to the smaller ones, as well as to those with disabilities.

I was so sickly as a child that I was admitted for pneumonia immediately after being born. I was atopic when I was in elementary school, so I regularly visited the dermatology clinic every week. The symptoms were not that severe, but I didn't like being seen by people while in the pool or during physical education. These are really painful memories. These experiences are why I decided to go for a profession that can help people, and ultimately, pursue being a doctor. After graduating from university, I thought of becoming a surgeon for cancer, so I interned at the Cancer Institute Hospital. However, being in a specialized hospital, there were only a few opportunities where I could be face-to-face with every patient. I felt that it was different from my image of a doctor. I also considered my poor physical fitness and my experiences as a child, so I transferred to the dermatology department of The University of Tokyo Hospital. From there, I switched to NTT Medical Center Tokyo and Tokyo Welfare Pension Hospital, and in 2011, I started working independently.
